![]() IMAGE: Antony Prangley. Parkhurst. Johannesburg. DESCRIPTION: " I currently work as a development consultant working with different organisations including the government. My work is based on community development. In recent years I have worked for the government of Swaziland ensuring that their citizens participate in the large irrigation project. I am the South African co-ordinator of an organisation called the Gumboots Foundation. We provide a pathway for South Africans living overseas to contribute to the ongoing 'up-liftment' of the nation. Through a strong team in London we support grassroots community development at home. I also enjoy Gumboot dancing. In 1994 I was completing my matric at St Johns College in Johannesburg, it is one of the top private schools in the country. I was too young to vote but I remember it being a very exciting period. At that time I had the ambition to work in the science field, I enjoyed physics and mathematics. What I will be doing in ten years time is hard for me to say, there are lots of options to explore before choosing a long-term path. It is tremendously exciting to play a part in the leadership of the city I live in, Maybe I will be mayor! I believe very deeply in promoting the value of diversity, I want to work on projects that bring South Africans closer in dialogue. The biggest change for me over the last ten years is that I am now aware of the Africa that surrounds me. I have had the opportunity to mix with people from different races and cultures and as a result my opinions are much more diverse. I have been enriched these experiences."
